FYI
Tried out the voice enhancer today. It sure does make the kids sit up a little straighter. :o) It makes me sound a little like the voice of God in the old Bill Cosby skits. My worry, however, is that teachers will use it to enhance sarcasm or startle kids into paying attention. Tempting some days, very tempting....but not conducive to a communication-based relationship between teacher and student. One enormous benefit for me is that I have to really concentrate on keeping an appropriate volume...which really helped me to remember to slloooowwww down. Very very cool.
I hope that I remembered to turn it off......

How is it you have a voice enhancer AND a Smart Board? In our school only a choice few of the Core teachers are getting Smart Boards. The rest of us are getting projectors, which is okay, except that I already bought one several years ago. You must be in a rich school or at least one that values language education.

What we have is a grant that provided us with some amazing technology. I made quite a nuisance of myself making sure that I had a working SmartBoard in September. I'm sure that part of the reason it happened was because my room was moved for the 12th time in 22 years. (I how hold the record!!) It was a bit of a consolation prize.
We are not a wealthy district at all. We are a small, rural community and so this is really an incredible blessing for us. (BTW...the first folks to get the SB's 3 years ago were the "core folks" lol.
We in the Spanish department are utilizing the new technology as much as we can, given time restraints, limited software, etc. There are three of us and we do tend to get carried away when we are fired up about something. I'm sure the powers that be were very aware that once we were "connected" we would make great use of it!!
Now...how can I get some of those 30 year old desks replaced....?
