Sunday Nights
I was blessed to work with wonderful colleagues early in my career. These men and women taught me about the community, students, teaching....and LIFE. When one of them retired several years ago, he told me that the best part of being retired was Sunday nights.
He said that Sunday nights used to be torture and he hadn't even realized it. He would have papers to correct, lesson plans to mull over, reminders of parents to contact, discipline incidents to follow up with, kids to worry about, meetings to attend, clothes to get ready, etc.Now his Sunday nights were....free. So here it is Sunday night and I am thinking about my colleague's wise words. It is so easy to have the week's to-do lists invade and take over Sunday night. There are so many things I have to do and they tend to take precedence over the the things that I would like to do.
What to do?
I am going to try to take the week the same way I am supposed to be teaching my kids. Slowly. One fact/skill/item at a time. That is soooooooooooooooo incredibly hard for me.
Wish me luck. Hope that your week goes well. Happy Spring!!
with love,
Laurie
